Structural Design Solutions Limited provides a structural design service to those wishing to create their own home.

Generally working from house floor plans, prepared by or on behalf of the Client, our structural engineer will provide advice on the designs that would facilitate the most cost effective solution, giving consideration to practical limitations and aesthetic preferences.

We are familiar with the compromise that must invariably develop during the design process, between the omni-present desire to reduce building costs and the often important need for a structural form of prominence or aesthetic value. Both of these requirements benefit from experience and design ability on the part of the structural engineer, whose skill can minimize cost of structure, thus maximizing monies available for finishes, or enable a form to be produced in steel, concrete, masonry or timber that replicates another’s vision.

Whether working from small house plans, where concrete foundation type and size may be the only input required, or luxury house plans, involving large open plan spaces and intricate details, the structural engineer’s advice should be sought, ideally at an early stage in the design development.
