With this knowledge, we are able to advise on the level of design service most appropriate to a particular project; whether this is a full service involving our attendance at project, design team and site meetings, the preparation of full detail drawings and design calculations, and regular site inspections, or a partial service allowing a reduction in the time spent on certain aspects.
We are familiar with the compromise that must invariably develop during the design process, between the omni-present desire to reduce building costs and the often important need for a structural form of prominence or aesthetic value. Both of these requirements benefit from experience and design ability on the part of the structural engineer, whose skill can minimize cost of structure, thus maximizing monies available for finishes, or enable a form to be produced in steel, concrete, masonry or timber that replicates another’s vision.
